Biomass Based N/O Codoped Porous Carbons with Abundant Ultramicropores for Highly Selective CO2 Adsorption

In this work, N/O codoped porous carbons (NOPCs) were derived from corn silk accompanied by Na2CO3 activation. The structures and surface chemical features of as-prepared carbon materials tailored adjusting the mass ratio. After activation, optimized sample (NOPC1) with abundant ultramicropores pyrrolic N displays an enhanced CO2 adsorption capacity 3.15 mmol g−1 1.95 at 273 K 298 1 bar, respectively. Moreover, also exhibited high IAST selectivity (16.9) Henry’s law (15.6) for CO2/N2 as well moderate heat adsorption. Significantly, joint effect between ultramicropore structure content was found to govern performance NOPCs samples.

A facile approach to fabricate novel highly microporous carbons has been developed by direct carbonization of lowly cross-linked polystyrene. The as-prepared highly microporous carbons demonstrate unusually high micropore rate (97%), high surface area (1108 m(2) g(-1)) and uniform pore size distribution, and thus exhibit excellent size-selective adsorption and electrochemical properties.
